English firm Fraser Well Management (FWM) has opened an office in Aberdeen as part of plans to broaden its UK operations and to drive expansion beyond the North Sea.
The new Granite City satellite is based in leased premises in Albert Street.
Great Yarmouth-based FWM said it would lead to the creation of new Aberdeen-based well engineering and other roles to support well engineering manager Donald MacArthur.
A spokeswoman for the company added there were likely to be one or two new recruits to the new office within six months, subject to market conditions.
Mr McArthur said the expansion represented “a new chapter” in the ongoing growth of FWM.
He added: “This office will correctly position our business to capitalise on opportunities in and around the area, as well as providing a springboard for continued growth with the direct access to clients and a talented skills pool.”
FWM, which employs 14 people, specialises in well engineering from relief well planning through to due diligence and well abandonment feasibility studies.
Deirdre Michie, chief executive of trade body Oil and Gas UK, said its commitment to Aberdeen showed “the North Sea is very much open for business”.
