North-east entrepreneur Brian Gribble has launched a new venture to help Scots firms get a toehold into the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Mr Gribble – already the majority shareholder at Aberdeen company Online Valves and previously the owner of associated business Online Valves – has set offices in both the Granite City and Dubai for his latest company, Oil and Gas (O&G) Innovation UAE.
Mr Gribble said: “The primary goal of the new venture is to help Scottish companies get into and gain greater share of UAE custom.
“The company has been established at a time when there is a call for innovation and collaboration across the industry at a time of big challenges.
“Scotland has a reputation for its innovation; years of experience in the North Sea has enabled Scottish companies to develop ground-breaking technologies that are of benefit to the industry worldwide.
“O&G aims to promote and deliver collaboration between Scotland and the UAE to add value to the economies of both regions.”
As well as boosting trade links between the two regions, it is hoped O&G will help deliver joint-ventures and other partnerships between UAE clients and Scottish oil and gas technology companies and academia.
Mr Gribble and his businesses have won three prestigious Queen’s Awards, most recently in this year’s competition.
Online Valves, which manufactures all types of valves and pipe fittings for the global oil and gas industry, impressed the 2016 judges with export sales growth of 840% over three years.
