A further set of eleventh-hour talks have failed to avert a 48-strike on Shell’s North Sea assets.
Workers plan to launch more industrial action in a dispute over changes to pay and conditions with their employer Wood Group.
A 24-hour strike was held last month, followed by two three hour strike period days later.
An overtime ban is also in place until further notice.
But fresh talks between union members from Unite and RMT have failed to end the stalemate between the two sides.
It means the 48-hour strike action will continue as planned from tomorrow across seven of Shell’s platforms.
Around 400 workers are taking part in the industrial action.
Dave Stewart, chief executive for Wood Group’s eastern region business unit, said: “We were willing to suspend the implementation of the terms and conditions currently proposed to enable further detailed discussions with our employees and the unions.
“We urge the unions to show willingness to reengage with us with a clear objective of reaching a resolution that safeguards employment opportunities for our employees, their members, both now and in the future.
“The safety and wellbeing of our employees remains our top priority and our commitment is to ensuring this is not compromised by this extended period of industrial action.”
