Statoil could reduce up to 250 positions from its operations in Norway, according to reports.
The Norwegian operator is said to be looking to downsize around 150 roles in its safety and sustainability department.
A further 100 jobs are expected to go in its financing and accounting functions.
According to reports in Norwegian media, a number of employees in its Global Business Support could also be outsourced.
Earlier this week, the company revealed $25 as the new break-even price for its Johan Sverdrup contract.
