Lundin Norway has received consent for exploration drilling in the Barents Sea.
The company is the operator for production licence 609 in block 7220/6 and has been given the go-ahead by the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) for work to begin this month.
The work is expected to last 22 days depending on whether a discovery is made.
The well will be drilled using the Leiv Eiriksson mobile facility, which is owned and operated by Ocean Rig.
Statoil has also been given consent for use of a Floatel on its Gina Krog project.
