The Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) today launched a one-day conference aimed at tackling maximising economic recovery (MER UK) in the North Sea.
The event, dubbed MER UK in Practice, will lay the groundwork on what the OGA expects the industry to do and what it is committed to delivering.
Chief executive Andy Samuel said: “I am pleased to announce the MER UK in Practice event. We will lay out in some detail what the OGA expects from industry and what industry can expect from the OGA as a strong and effective authority.
“The varied agenda will set out the OGA regulatory framework including use of our new powers. We will also provide more information on the enhanced asset stewardship process and the sector strategies. Proactive and constructive dialogue across industry will be most timely as we look to the next stage of maximising economic recovery.”
The event will be held on Tuesday, October 25 at the the Aberdeen Exhibition Conference Centre.
It will take place days after the the OGA transitions into a government company. As of October 1, the OGA will be granted new powers including access to operators meetings, data acquisition and retention, dispute resolution and sanctions.
The one-day event, which Energy Voice is official media sponsor of, will include a mix of plenary, panel and breakout sessions.
Exploration, asset stewardship, technology, information management, supply chain, regulatory framework, decommissioning and competition law will all be covered on the day.
Registration for the free event closes on Monday, October 17. To register click here.
The event, which will outline sector and regulator responsibilities, comes after Norway’s Primer Minister told Energy Voice the bulk of recovery rested on the industry’s shoulders. Read more here.
