The Norwegian safety agency will hold a crunch meeting with Eni and Statoil over further operations from the Goliat project in the Barents Sea.
It comes after Eni was issued with a number of safety failures from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) earlier this month.
The project has remained shut in after a power failure last month.
The incident is being investigated by Eni but comes after a similar incident in May this year.
The PSA had previously said the on the basis of both these incidents a notification of order had been given to the company.
Also earlier this month, Norwegian politician Anniken Hauglie, Minister of Labour and Social Inclusion in the Scandinavian country, called for a meeting with the PSA to discuss what measures could be taken to enforce stricter supervision of oil companies.
