Aker Solutions will make up to 100 employees redundant from its operations in Norway.
The company confirmed the move earlier today.
According to reports in Norwegian media the positions will be cut on a temporary basis until work picks up.
Aker Solutions said it expects work to pick up in at the beginning of next year.
It comes as Statoil revealed it would be looking to start a recruitment drive for up to 40 positions for its North Sea operations in the UK.
