The Transocean Winner rig is unlikely to be moved within the next two days due to bad weather, according to the Maritime and Coastguard Service.
The organisation said forecasts were being closely monitored, but that the outlook did not look promising at present.
Salvage teams planned to load the 17,600 semi-submersible onto the OHT Hawk on the weekend, but had to postpone the operation as the weather window was not big enough.
However, deballasting operations on the rig did go ahead on Saturday evening and were completed successfully on Sunday morning.
Transocean Winner is currently anchored in Broad Bay off the east coast of the Isle of Lewis.
The rig was taken there in August after being successfully refloated off the west coast, having runĀ aground earlier the same month following a storm.
Once aboard Hawk, it will be taken to Turkey for scrapping.
