Aberdeenshire firm Ace Winches has completed a job for Technip ahead of a project commencing on Quad 204 west of Shetland.
Ace Winches, a deck machinery maker based near Turriff, built a hydraulic drum winch, an overboard system and spooling gear for a floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
The ship will be used to help provide new tie-ins for the Loyal field.
The value of the deal was not disclosed
Ace Winches’ chief operating officer, Richard Wilson, said: “The limited deck space presented us with a challenge, but we overcame it with an innovative design which delivers a high quality solution that obtains maximum use and efficiency from the area available.”
BP’s Quad 204 project involves the redevelopment of the Schiehallion and Loyal fields, 110 miles west of Shetland, and the target is to squeeze out another 450million barrels of oil from the assets over 25 years.
