The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) said it will conduct an investigation after six workers were exposed to gas at a terminal in Norway.
The move comes after Statoil revealed workers had been hospitalised following the incident at the Sture terminal on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident had occured during work on a treatment facility for oily water.
In a statement the PSA said it had decided to conduct an investigation with a team from the safety body travelling to the Sture terminal.
The objectives of the investigation will be to clarify the chain of events and identify proximate and underlying causes, with the aim of promoting learning and experience transfer.
