A Peterhead-based protective coatings firm has received permission to expand its blast and painting facility.
Davidsons Blast Services (DBS), a family-run business founded as a ship painter in 1976, will spend a six-figure sum to create extra office space at its site on the Dales Industrial Estate.
DBS said the development will make room for in house training and conferencing facilities, and for potential new recruits in quality control and business development.
The expansion is slated for completion in February 2017.
DBS managing director Bruce Davidson said: “Since opening our blast cleaning and coatings facility in 2010, we have concentrated our investment in our workshop areas ensuring operations run at maximum efficiency.
“Investment in these areas have been implemented strategically and are key to ensuring DBS’s continued success offering a first class service, delivered on time and within the customer’s budget.
“Although it is currently a challenging climate for our industry, we believe this upgrade is necessary for the growth and further development of our services, as well as enhancing the skills we already have through running in-house training.
“Of course being a family owned business, we couldn’t think of a better way in marking the occasion than asking our Grandfather, who originally founded Davidson’s as a company in 1976, to break ground for the development.”
