The boss of Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) yesterday warned some parts of the supply chain will remain “seriously challenged” in the coming months as the global decline in oil price continues.
The 2016 Share Fair was held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and aims to stoke collaboration and drum up business by giving supply chain companies a rare chance to have one-to-one interviews with operators’ decision makers throughout the day, in a format not dissimilar to speed dating.
Around 700 people attended the event this year down from an estimated 900 in 2015 with six companies presenting including Chevron North Sea, Nexen and BP.
A total of 20 companies exhibited with 19 firms also offering one-to-one sessions.
Ms Michie said: “Difficult times continue – this downturn is now well into its 2nd year and while there are positive signs – some parts of the supply chain will remain seriously challenged in the coming months due to the lack of fresh investment and activity in the basin.
“Industry is moving in the right direction and becoming more competitive through the efforts of companies across the whole sector.”
She said the the share fair was a “great example” of how the industry body allows collaboration and opportunity for the sector to come together and generate ideas and come together.
