Statoil was forced into an emergency response after smoke was detected on a North Sea platform.
The incident happened on the Gullfaks A platform after smoke appeared to be coming from a fan room.
Shortly after midnight emergency response procedures were implemented.
The situation is said to have been brought under control around an hour later.
A number of incidents across the company’s operations have led to meetings with the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA).
