North-east firm Quensh Specialists has expanded its team, thanks to a new contract secured with North Sea operator Premier Oil.
The health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) management and training consultancy said yesterday it had taken on an extra two employees, taking the total to 22, after winning the work.
Quensh also revealed there were two further potentially lucrative deals already in the pipeline.
Its first contract with Premier – the exact value was undisclosed but it is worth a six-figure sum – will see it implement and develop an improved HSEQ management system, helping to make sure the operator more than meets offshore industry safety rules.
Quensh will also support the transition of legacy management systems for assets where Premier, which acquired E.ON UK’s North Sea portfolio in an £83million-plus deal earlier this year, is taking over as operator.
Foveran, Aberdeenshire-based Quensh said it beat strong competition to secure the contract, which represented an important step for “establishing a wide-ranging understanding of the challenges faced by companies taking over installation operatorship of existing assets”.
Managing director Tracie Watson added: “It is an exciting time for Premier and we are delighted to be working in partnership with them.
“Quensh can bring added value to Premier through its extensive experience, track record, and fit-for-purpose approach.”
The two HSEQ specialists taken on specifically for the work were previously unemployed.
Quensh is owned by Andrew Bruce, Robert Forbes and Donna Hutchison who set up the business in 2006.
Other customers of the firm in the oil and gas industry include Huntly-based R&M Oil and Gas Services and downhole isolation specialist Meta, which is now part of Schlumberger.
