Norway’s offshore safety body has approved a request from ExxonMobil to extend the lifetime of the Sigyn field infrastructure.
Sigyn is a gas and condensate field in the Sleipner area of the North Sea, around 12 kilometres south-east of Sleipner Øst.
Production from the field began in 2012 and was initially expect to last until 2017.
But ExxonMobil thinks it can get another five years out of the field.
The Petroleum Safety Authority said today that it had agreed to extend the lifetime for Sigyn’s wells and pipelines until December 31, 2022.
