Royal Dutch Shell chief executive Ben van Beurden is to speak at the opening plenary session at SPE Offshore Europe 2017.
The event is being held in Aberdeen from September 5 to September 8.
Mr van Beurden is expected to address hundreds of oil and gas professionals who will attend the first day of Europe’s foremost exploration and production conference and exhibition.
Also speaking at the opening session with be BP group CEO Bob Dudley.
Conference chair Catherine MacGregor, president of Schlumberger’s reservoir characterization group, welcome Mr van Beurden’s participation.
She said: “It will be an honour to welcome Ben van Beurden to SPE Offshore Europe.
“His insights, at a tune of change and reinvention, and hopefully as confidence begins to return to the North Sea, will be of great interest to our delegates.”
SPE Offshore Europe 2017’s theme will be ‘Embracing new realities: reinventing our industry’.
More than 65 technical papers and 11 keynote panel sessions with combined with business breakfasts and topical lunches.
For the first time this year there will also be a ‘decommissioning zone’. It will include 40 exhibitors as well as a conference programme organised with Decom North Sea, ITF, SUT and IMechE.
