Aker ASA’s billionaire owner is rumoured to be in talks with American oilfield service giant Halliburton over the sale of parts of its engineering and services arm.
But a spokeswoman for subsidiary Aker Solutions said the company would “not comment on rumours and speculation” when contacted by Energy Voice over the potential sell-off.
According to other media reports, Aker’s Norwegian owner Kjell Inge Rokke is said to be in talks with several international oilfield contractors.
Early reports suggested that the American player could swoop in and acquire key parts of the group’s portfolio.
However Aker Solutions announced a major restructuring last year which saw the subsea and field design departments swallowed up, contrary to some of the rumours.
Halliburton declined to comment on the topic.
Aker ASA has been contacted for comment.
