The masterminds behind the biggest ship in the world have released bird’s-eye footage to show the scale of the vessel.
Pioneering Spirit will be used to lift the topside of the Brent Delta from the North Sea later this summer using 16 hydraulic beams covering the gap between it’s two hulls.
The behemoth ship also boasts a pipe welding factory on the aft deck and can be fitted with a huge pipeline laying device known as ‘the stinger’.
The $3billion creation also has a karaoke room – a firm favorite among many of the crew.
Energy Voice visited Rotterdam to see the ship up close earlier this week. To watch the video, click here.
Shell has described the Brent Delta as a “very complicated beast to dismantle”. To find out why, click here.
