Statoil has booked a Prosafe accommodation vessel for the first phase of its Johan Sverdrup hook-up and commissioning project in the Norwegian North Sea.
Johan Sverdrup is the largest discovery on the Norwegian continental shelf in recent history.
Statoil will pay between $51million and $53million for the Safe Zephyrus semi-submersible vessel, which has 450 beds.
The Norwegian oil major has a number of options in terms of contract length, and will make its choice in August.
Jesper Kragh Andresen, chief executive of Cyprus-based Prosafe, said: “We regard this contract award as a significant milestone and we are ready to deliver the highest quality of vessel and service.
“Statoil is a key client and this was a very important contract for the company to win and we anticipate that this will position the Safe Zephyrus well for any additional work at the Johan Sverdrup development.”
