Stork’s Erik-Jan Bijvank has joined Step Change in Safety as the new co-chair of the member led watchgdog’s leadership team.
The regional vice president for the UK, Africa and Middle East at Stork, will work alongside TAQA’s Donald Taylor, who was appointed co-chair last year.
The pair will be responsible for guiding the Step Change Leadership Team (SCLT), a group of industry leaders made up of members from operators, service companies, trade unions and the Health and Safety Executive.
The sole purpose of the SCLT is to deliver projects which will have a positive impact on the safety in the North Sea oil and gas industry.
Bijvank said: “Having been involved with Step Change in Safety and its Simplification Steering Group for many years, I am delighted to be appointed to this leadership role. I look forward to working closely with Donald and the SCiS team to deliver important initiatives that continue to enhance safety for our workforce and across the industry.”
Bijvank will be taking over from his predecessor Crawford Anderson at Baker Hughes, who is retiring from the co-chair role after one and a half years.
During his time Crawford contributed to the introduction of significant safety projects to the oil and gas industry, including Boots on for Safety, Workforce Engagement and Simplification.
