The sale of Engie’s oil and gas exploration and production unit to a business led by former Centrica boss Sam Laidlaw is imminent, a news report said.
Talks between Engie and Neptune Oil and Gas “are going well and could be concluded soon”, a source told Reuters.
Engie is expected to announce that it is in exclusive talks with Neptune − set up in 2015 by private equity funds Carlyle Group and CVC − for the sale of a 70% stake in the E&P unit for $3.6billion.
Engie declined to comment.
