Norway’s offshore safety watchdog has given Statoil permission to use the Gullfaks B facility for two more decades.
Statoil operates the Gullfaks field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
It has been developed using three platforms which facilitate processing, drilling and accommodation.
Gullfaks B was installed in July 1987 and began production in February 1988.
Statoil’s permission to use Gullfaks B was meant to expire next month, but the Petroleum Safety Authority has agreed to let it go on working until June 30, 2036.
