Dea Norge AS has received consent to drill a shallow gas well on the Dvalin field in the Norwegian Sea.
Dvalin is a gas field, consisting of two separate structures: Dvalin East and Dvalin West.
Dvalin East was proven in 2010, around 15 kilometres north-west of Heidrun, in 344 metres of water.
Dvalin West was proven in 2012, around 3.5 kilometres west of Dvalin East, in 400 metres of water.
DEA Norge AS (Dea) is the operator of the field. The plan for development and operation (PDO) for Dvalin was approved by the authorities in March 2017, and production is scheduled to begin in late 2020.
The field is being developed using a subsea facility. The gas will be piped to the Heidrun field.
Dea has now received consent to drill a shallow gas pilot at Dvalin. The object of well 6507/7-U-10 is to exclude the possibility of shallow gas underground, before drilling production wells.
The well is to be drilled by the Songa Encourage mobile drilling facility. The operation begins in June/July and is expected to last two to three days.
