Norway’s offshore safety watchdog has given Aker BP its blessing to drill an exploration well on the Nordfjellet prospect in the North Sea.
The Maersk Interceptor jack-up rig will drill the well starting next month at the earliest.
It was built by Keppel in Singapore and is operated by Maersk Drilling Norge.
Aker BP was created last year following a merger between BP’s Norwegian unit and Det norske oljeselskap, which was controlled by investment firm Aker.
