A Rugby World Cup-winning coach will meet with leaders of the offshore oil and gas industry next week in Aberdeen to explain the importance of training and improvement to a successful business.
Sir Clive Woodward, whose theories and techniques propelled England to victory in the 2003 tournament, will be giving a talk at this year’s Offshore Europe on Wednesday.
The celebrated sporting legend coached the RFU’s elite team from 1997 to 2004 and orchestrated their unprecedented triumph in the sport’s premier competition.
He will be speaking to more than 100 guests about what makes a champion at the Raising the Bar event, hosted by energy industry training provider Mintra Group, at its Carden Place training facility.
Sir Clive said: “The global energy industry has rightly focused on training and competency solutions to improve performance and develop winning teams.
“Investing in these areas can make a significant impact on the success of any business, and I’m very pleased to share my knowledge and expertise.”
Sir Clive led Team GB as director of sport through the Beijing and London Olympic games in 2008 and 2012.
And at the moment, the man who has experience in the business world from his days running his own finance and leasing company, spends his time travelling up and down the country giving talks to companies eager to learn the secret of coaching and managerial success.
Founded in 1973, Offshore Europe is one of the UK’s largest events dedicated solely to the oil and gas industry and attracts visitors from all across the globe.
Scott Kerr, CEO of Mintra Group said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Sir Clive join us for our Offshore Europe event and I’m sure he’ll be a very popular draw for the business community.
“Sir Clive’s experience in training and performance improvement is a perfect fit for us, and it promises to be a very interesting evening to learn more about how he has used his coaching and training techniques and developed them in the business arena.”
