The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted OMV (Norge) AS premission to drill a wildcat well off the coast of Norway.
Well 6506/11-10 will be drilled from the Deepsea Bergen drilling facility.
OMV is the operator with an ownership interest of 30%.
The other licensees are Statoil (30%), Faroe Petroleum (20%) and Centrica (20%).
The well will be drilled about 21 kilometres north of the Kristin field.
Production licence 644 was awarded in February 2016.
This is the first well to be drilled in the licence.
The permit is contingent upon the operator having secured all other permits and consents required by other authorities before the drilling starts.
