An oil worker had to be airlifted from a North Sea platform and taken to Shetland yesterday after falling ill.
The crewman was working on Total’s Alwyn North platform, 106 miles north-east of Sumburgh airport, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said.
The coastguard helicopter was called out from Sumburgh to collect the worker.
The patient was transferred to an ambulance at Tingwall airport for onward conveyance to Gilbert Bain Hospital, Lerwick.
Coastguards were alerted at 8:45am and had the casualty in hospital by 11am.
His condition is unknown.
