A man has died on a North Sea platform.
The 59-year-old passed away on Marathon Oil’s Brae Alpha, 155 miles north-east of Aberdeen.
Police were made aware of the death at around 10.20am yeterday.
A spokeswoman said: “Inquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing however there are no apparent suspicious circumstances. As with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesman for Marathon Oil said: “It is with deep regret that Marathon Oil U.K. LLC confirms that a crew member working on the Brae Alpha platform passed away earlier today as a result of a non-work related cause.
“Next of kin and all the relevant authorities have been informed.”
