Forth Ports has appointed a new business development manager to focus on oil and gas decommissioning activity in Scotland.
Ann Rooney will take up the post which is based in Aberdeen, with her main focus on the ports of Dundee, Leith and Rosyth.
She will work closely with the managers of those ports, as well as Dundeecom on joint decommissioning opportunities.
The Oil and Gas Authority said earlier this month that decommissioning proposals for the UK North Sea are expected to soar over the next two years.
Ms Rooney previously worked with logistics firm DB Schenker for seven years, as well as having been project coordinator and ships agent with GAC Shipping.
Stuart Wallace, chief operating officer of Forth Ports, said: “We welcome Ann to the Scottish team. Ann’s appointment comes at an important time for Forth Ports’ as we focus on attracting work from the oil and gas and decommissioning sector to our ports on the Tay and Forth Estuaries.
“Ann brings a wealth of experience and she has a strong track record in delivering results.”
Despite a projected boost in decommissioning projects for the North Sea, the number of jobs that could bring to north-east Scotland remains unclear.
John Scrigmeour, from the University of Aberdeen’s Institute of Energy, predicted is could create “thousands of jobs” for Aberdeen.
Forth Ports is the UK’s third-largest group in the UK, operating out of seven Scottish ports on the Tay and Forth Estuaries.
