Shearwater Geoservices has landed a deal to carry out 3D surveying for Premier Oil’s Tolmount field.
The Southern North Sea development is one of the largest recent discoveries in the gas basin.
Shearwater will provide high-resolution 3D scanning of approximately 400 square kilometres of the Tolmount field.
It is expected to start late Q2 of this year, and will be carried out by Shearwater’s Polar Dutchess vessel.
CEO Irene Basili said: “This marks the return to the North Sea following last year’s active season. I’m especially pleased to see the Polar Duchess working for Premier Oil, conducting Shearwater’s first high-resolution appraisal project in the UK North Sea.”
The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
Premier Oil holds a 50% stake in Tolmount, which is thought to be capable of producing 540billion cubic feet of gas.
