Helicopter operator NHV has won a contract with a Cairn Energy subsidiary to transport workers to the North Sea Ekland Field.
The deal with Nautical Petroleum is for an upcoming drilling campaign at Ekland, which is around 120 nautical miles east of Aberdeen.
NHV did not disclose the value of the contract.
The firm will use H175 aircraft for the work, an Airbus helicopter which NHV said is designed to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry
Aberdeen base manager Jamie John said: “We at NHV are delighted that Nautical Petroleum have selected NHV to partner with them in their upcoming drilling project.
“The award of this contract strengthens our long standing relationship where we have previously supported projects in West Africa.
“The new operation in Aberdeen signals the start of the first North Sea operation between NHV and Nautical petroleum, and we are looking forward to providing support on this new project.’’
NHV started operating out of Aberdeen at the beginning of 2016, and also has a presence in the Netherlands, Ghana and Denmark.
