Norwegian investigators will publish their final report into a fatal offshore helicopter crash today.
The report will conclude Accident Investigation Board Norway’s probe into the incident on April 29, 2016.
Thirteen people, including Iain Stuart from Laurencekirk, were killed when a CHC-operated Super Puma 225 crashed near Bergen.
AIBN said a press conference would be held in Bergen on July 5.
The aircraft had been on a return journey from Equinor’s Gullfaks B platform to Bergen Airport when its main rotor suddenly detached.
Flight data showed the chopper dropped 2,000ft in the final few seconds of its journey.
Super Pumas have not been used in North Sea oil industry operations since the crash.
Investigators published a preliminary report a year on from the accident, in which they confirmed the aircraft’s rotor broke off due to a “fatigue fracture” in one of its gears.
But AIBN said it still did not know why a crack in one of the cogs had continued to spread inside the component.
Many operators have said they won’t consider flying crew offshore in Super Pumas until a root cause is identified.
