A North Sea port has signed a deal for a 600tonne crane to be stationed there.
Port of Blyth, on England’s north-east coast, has entered a partnership with heavy lift specialists Mammoet.
It improves the on-site lift capacity at the port, where DeepOcean and Royal IHC have bases, from 120tonnes to 600tonnes.
EDF’s Blyth Demonstrator Offshore Wind Farm also sits four miles off the coast.
The crone deal is aimed at saving costs for companies at the port on hiring arrangements and heavy lift mobilisation.
Port director Alan Todd said: ““Having worked successfully with Mammoet on a number of high profile projects over several years this agreement is the logical next step in our partnership.
“Our customers will now benefit from a highly flexible and cost effective on site heavy lift solution whilst also being able to tap into the market leading expertise provided by Mammoet.”
