Norwegian energy giant Equinor’s Oseberg H has received the go-ahead from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) for a production start-up in September.
Oseberg H is a new unmanned wellhead platform that is part of the Oseberg vestflanken 2 development project in the North Sea.
The NPD described the Oseberg H facility as “a new type of facility on the Norwegian Shelf”, adding that the organisation felt it “positive” that Equinor had developed a new, cost-effective development solution on an unmanned wellhead platform.
The Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) for Oseberg vestflanken 2 was approved in June 2016.
The PDO was initially £762 million, but has been reduced to £604 million.
