Equinor has once again extended its contract for the Safe Boreas accommodation vessel at its Mariner platform.
The £34.3million contract will extend the Prosafe vessel’s time at the field a further eight months from November until June 2019.
Prosafe’s initial 13-month contract at the field east of Shetland began in late 2017, and has already two one-month extensions.
Equinor said it is targeting first oil from Mariner by the end of this year, and the contract extension relates to a scope of work following the start-up of Mariner.
The multi-billion pound project is expected to yield 250million barrels of oil over its 30-year production life.
CEO of Prosafe, Jesper Kragh Andresen, said: “This contract extension demonstrates the good performance Prosafe and the Safe Boreas has achieved to support the Mariner hook up and commissioning project.
“The Safe Boreas with its large bed capacity and advanced station keeping will continue providing a high level of service throughout the remainder of the contract.”
