Oil firm Equinor has announced it has spudded the first well at its Utgard field on the median line between the UK and Norway.
The central North Sea development is estimated to have 56million recoverable barrels of oil equivalent, with the majority being on the Norwegian section.
Equinor has released a video to go alongside the announcement showing the start-up of drilling (see below).
The firm was given consent in July to use the Deepsea Atlantic rig for the Utgard field.
Gas and condensate from Utgard will be transferred through a new pipeline to the nearby Sleipner field for processing.
