Perenco has vowed to carry out a review following a scolding from the UK’s workplace safety watchdog.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) handed down an improvement notice after a gas leak on one of Perenco’s southern North Sea platform.
The flare on the Inde 23A installation produced an “uncontrolled release of flammable condensate” on August 20.
HSE’s inspector said instrumented protection systems failed to prevent the release, and that no alarm was raised.
Perenco has until January 7 to comply with the notice.
A company spokesman said: “We have applied immediate corrective actions on this particular level control issue on Inde 23 A.
“In addition, we are reviewing a number of internal processes following the HSE’s investigation.”
