Choosing to open a consultancy office in Aberdeen in the midst of a downturn in the oil and gas sector may have seemed like a bold move, but it is one that has proven to be a sound investment for the integrity heavyweight Rosen Group as they continue to grow and expand the pool of technical knowledge and expertise available to clients based here in the Granite City.
As a leading provider of cutting-edge solutions in all areas of the integrity process chain, Rosen Group had more than 20 years’ experience working in the North Sea from its Newcastle base, before deciding to establish a permanent presence in Aberdeen in 2017 following its rebranding of Macaw Engineering.
This foothold in the European oil and gas capital ensures that clients here have on the ground rapid response and easy access to the expertise they need, when they need it. And because the Rosen Aberdeen consultants have seen the business from both sides of the operational fence, they bring added inside knowledge of legislation and technical authority practices, which clients find hugely beneficial.
Headed by technical engineering manager Bryn Roberts, who brings more than 25 years of experience in integrity, materials, corrosion and welding engineering to the table, the Aberdeen office acts as a hub for Rosen’s North Sea integrity consultancy services, while also being able to draw on the knowledge and expertise of the team of 180 employees in the Newcastle office and specialist testing centre, not to mention teams in Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Houston and Rio de Janeiro.
Mr Roberts said: “From Aberdeen, we can provide a holistic integrity management service with the added advantage of being able to tap into the capabilities available worldwide.
“Our team here comprises respected experts who can support operators with specialist knowledge that includes materials, corrosion, welding, metallurgy, risk, structural integrity, pipeline operations, pipeline integrity and flow assurance.
“Our clients, who already include several North Sea majors, appreciate our pragmatic, can-do approach and being able to do business with us face-to-face, which, in this digital age, still counts for a lot. They appreciate being able to bring in our expertise as and when they need it, to work on a specific project, cherry picking the competencies they require to suit the task in hand.
“Business is growing and we are already looking at expanding into bigger office space and doubling the team by the end of the year.”
