An Aberdeen-headquartered firm has announced the launch of a new drone operator training course in partnership with the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB).
Texo Compliance, part of Texo Group based in Westhill, said it has created ECITB-approved industrial drone training course that will “set the standard” to operate the technology in heavy industrial environments.
The course will allow operators to work in the oil and gas industry, alongside the nuclear, renewables, rail, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and food sectors.
ECITB, chief executive Chris Claydon, said the course will enable the industry to “compete globally”.
He added: “This new course is a great example of how we have collaborated with industry to create a product where there is a clear and growing market need.
“We have listened to employers and, at their request, developed training that meets what is an increasingly important skills requirement for them and their clients.”
Starting in September, testing will be undertaken at an ECITB-approved centre using the ECITB technical testing platform.
The public body invested around £30 million last year to support skills development within the engineering construction industry.
