Maersk Drilling has won a £6.2million contract to drill an appraisal well at a central North Sea field.
The Danish firm will drill at the Birgitta field for Petrogas.
The contract is expected to begin in March next year for an estimated 70 days, with a 20-day option.
The harsh environment jack-up rig to be used for the job has yet to be assigned.
Earlier this year Oman-headquartered Petrogas increased its operations in the UK sector through a £510million deal with Total, expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
Birgitta was not included as part of the asset sale.
