A workers who was airlifted from a UK North Sea platform has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
Vessel owner Teekay said the person, a third-party contractor, was evacuated from the Hummingbird Spirit FPSO on Sunday after showing “flu-like symptoms”.
Teekay’s spokeswoman said: “The person has now tested positive for Covid-19 and is receiving the necessary medical treatment.”
The vessel is stationed on Spirit Energy’s Chestnut field in the central North Sea.
It is unclear how many North Sea workers may have contracted Covid-19.
A separate confirmed case was reported last week involving a worker on the Aoka Mizu FPSO, which serves Hurricane Energy’s Lancaster field.
The crew member was understood to be in a “life and death situation”.
