Neptune Energy has released a timelapse of operations to remove a gas production platform in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.
The company, which is the country’s largest producer of gas and oil, removed the L10-G installation with the use of a Boskalis crane vessel.
L10-G is a satellite field, first installed in the 1980s, as part of the wider L10 area which produced first gas in 1975.
Neptune is also working on the removal of the L10-C and L10-D platforms.
The firm said: “These platforms were installed in the 70s and 80s and after decades of offshore gas production to keep Dutch homes and hospitals warm, they have now reached the end of their economic life.
“It’s our responsibility to remove the platforms and leave the seabed behind in a clean state.
“We take decommissioning seriously at Neptune, doing it safely and recycling and reusing as much of the materials used.”
The L10 area, which Neptune describes as the “Grand Dame” of the Dutch North Sea, lies around 40miles from Den Helder.
