Oil and Gas UK’s (OGUK) supply chain manager has left the trade body to join John Crane group.
Matt Abraham, who spent two years at OGUK, has taken up a VP post for global supply chain at the Chicago-headquartered company.
John Crane is a mechanical seals specialist owned by global technology firm Smiths Group.
It also owns an asset integrity business – JCAMS – formed in 2015 when John Crane bought maintenance service firm XPD8 from Aberdeen entrepreneur Mark Cavanagh.
Meanwhile, Katy Heidenreich, who is currently spearheading the OGUK’s recovery group for stimulating investment in the region, has replaced Mr Abraham in a new dual role as supply chain and operations director.
She will oversee efforts to focus increasing North Sea activity to sustain jobs across the sector’s “beleaguered” supply chain, building on Mr Abraham’s “significant progress”.
Ms Heidenreich has 27 years of experience in the field having joined OGUK five years ago after 15 years at Schlumberger, latterly as commercial manager or the UK, Netherlands and Denmark.
She is also author of “The industry’s best kept secret” – a book designed to inspire and encourage more women to consider careers in the energy sector.
OGUK chief executive Deirdre Michie said: “Our industry has the essential expertise to help the UK meet its climate ambitions by 2050 and power the green recovery. At the same time, we can help keep costs low for households and families, retain jobs and create new roles for the future.
“Supporting a sustainable recovery is at the heart of all this, and Katy will have a critical role in bringing the supply chain together with our operations to support much needed recovery, at pace. Katy’s expertise in optimising operations to help unlock investment will help stimulate much needed activity for our world-class but fragile supply chain.
“I’m also grateful to Matt for his contribution to OGUK and industry during some of our most challenging times and wish him every success for the future.”
