TotalEnergies has awarded Semco Maritime a five-year contract to provide manpower and construction services on its installations in the Danish North Sea.
The contract spans from November 2022 until October 2027 and builds on long-standing work with TotalEnergies, including ongoing on the re-development of the Tyra field.
Semco said the award, the value of which was not disclosed, also establishes a framework for further work on existing projects and the provision of manpower in ad hoc projects.
Semco Maritime said it expects to engage a “significant number” of skilled onshore and offshore workers in support of the contract, which will cover more than 1 million workhours, though did not specify how many jobs the award may create.
Headquartered in Esbjerg, Denmark, the group also operates bass in Norway and the UK, including in Aberdeen and Invergordon.
“We are very pleased to strengthen our already close ties with TotalEnergies with the signing of this important contract, which we consider a vote of confidence after years of great cooperation. Ensuring efficient operations and a stable energy supply from the North Sea is of critical importance to TotalEnergies and the Danish people, and we are committed to provide an excellent team with a stellar track-record to get this job done,” said the group’s senior vice president for oil and gas, Anders Benfeldt.
The company said closer ties would contribute to ensuring efficient operations, ultimately securing the Danish energy supply from the North Sea with the Tyra project as a particular important priority.
Work is progressing at the flagship project, albeit with a delayed date for first gas.
Having originally been expected this year, the start-up revised to winter 2023/2024 due to supply chain crunches.
TotalEnergies leads the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC) venture behind the major project, with a share of 43.2%, alongside Noreco (36.8 %) and Nordsøfonden (20%).
