Oil and gas services company Petrofac may be forced to reduce its headcount to move in line with a change in shift pattern with client BP.
Petrofac manages planned and corrective maintenance of all BP’s offshore UK North Sea assets including the Schiehallion floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel in the West of Shetland and the Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP).
The Petrofac maintenance team includes around 82 offshore technicians.
A spokeswoman from Petrofac said: “Petrofac is supporting its customer regarding the implementation of a proposed three weeks on/three weeks off rota offshore.
“Should there be reductions in numbers employed, we will actively look to redeploy personnel elsewhere where possible.”
Maersk Oil said yesterday it would reduce its workforce by up to 12% with 220 jobs to go as part of a bid to reduce operating costs by 20% by the end of 2016.
