Prosafe confirmed it has secured its stranded accommodation vessel the Safe Bristolia.
The vessel was being relocated when a tow line to a anchor handling vessel broke in storm conditions and left it drifting in the North Sea 120km east of Montrose on January 3.
The Bristolia’s 33 person crew remained on board the rig and managed to stabilise its position 148km east of the UK mainland on January 4 by dropping one of its two anchors.
However, bad weather conditions hampered efforts to reconnect the tow line for five additional days.
The spokeswoman said: “The vessel was in open water in Scotland, with no imminent dangers, and holding position after deploying an anchor on 5th January.
“The main tow line was re-established yesterday, 8th January, and the Safe Bristolia has resumed the tow at midnight.”
The accommodation vessel, which is not on hire, was being towed from the Cromarty Firth to the polish port of Gdansk, when it ran into difficulties.
