Amec Foster Wheeler has revealed plans to reduce its pay for workers in Aberdeen by 7.5%.
The move will impact the salaries of onshore and offshore contractors and will become effective from next month.
It comes on the same day Sparrows Group said it was in consultation with staff over up to 90 positions.
Amec managing director for Upstream Asset Solutions, Alex Johnstone, said: “The industry continues to face challenging times and after much consideration, we have taken the difficult decision to reduce contractor rates.
“We are determined to keep our business and the industry sustainable for the long term and this is just one of many measures to address cost and efficiency.”
Earlier this week it was revealed the head of the company,Samir Brikho, was ousted as chief executive of Amec Foster Wheeler at a board meeting held on the eve of the firm’s latest trading update.
A spokesman for the engineering and project management giant said the rest of the board had decided it was “time for a change”.
