Stephen Hawking once said: “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change” writes Bruce Gill, director of Denholm Engineering
Change can be challenging, daunting even, but when viewed from the right perspective and approached intelligently change can open up new and exciting opportunities for many businesses across a range of sectors – as we ourselves are finding out.
As most of us know, change of some kind or another has been crucial for many organisations as they navigate ongoing vagaries in the energy sector and our company is no exception. These difficult trading conditions have caused us to look again at our customer base and explore new avenues to see how we can achieve stability during uncertain times.
During our research, it soon became clear that a change of name might better reflect what we do and where we want to be, helping us to expand our horizons beyond what used to be a traditionally niche market – and so Jolibar Metal Works recently became Denholm Engineering.
After 35 years of experience in fabrication, machining and the coating of components and equipment, this change reflects a new era and allows us to embrace a new trading environment, whilst helping us grow our foothold in both new and existing markets.
By becoming Denholm Engineering, we are effectively stepping away from what was a niche company to something more diverse.
But whilst change is important, so too is the ability to reassure stakeholders that key elements will stay the same, primarily our ability to deliver market-leading, bespoke, turnkey solutions for clients in onshore and offshore locations.
We feel that our new name better reflects our intention to grow and evolve, and it will be an important tool in correctly positioning us to focus on diversifying our offering whilst retaining the capability to service a recovering market.
So in summary, change can be exciting – you just need to make sure you look at it in the right way.
