An offshore emergency response unit in Aberdeen has undergone its second rebranding in a year after a merger of businesses owned by Dubai-based holding company NM Capital.
The North Sea incident management centre (IMC) was previously part of crisis-management firm Altor Risk Group, which was acquired by NM Capital’s Stirling Group in 2014 for an undisclosed sum.
The IMC has operated under the Stirling Group name since last summer.
But Stirling Group has just merged with sister company Restrata (Technology), and both businesses now operate under the Restrata banner.
It means the IMC is now part of an enlarged business covering the full spectrum of security and safety risk, with more than 130 employees across 19 offices worldwide.
The company is led by managing director Mark Alexander and has operations spanning global healthcare, safety, security, environment and risk management.
Recently won contracts include a deal to provide training and critical security services at two of Egypt’s largest airports, Sharm El-Sheikh and Cairo International.
Bosses expect the combination of Stirling Group and Restrata (Technology) to produce gains from their respective experience, technical capabilities, customer relationships and geographic reach.
Mr Alexander said: “This deal signals confidence both in our business and in the long-term direction of the sectors in which we operate.
“Joining forces will enable us to significantly expand our expertise in complete security solutions to fulfil our ambition of becoming a global market leader.
“By integrating our services we are in a much stronger position to provide an increased range of services to support and protect critical infrastructure in challenging environments.”
He added: “Trading under the one banner will simplify things commercially, for our clients and our staff, and allow us to capitalise on opportunities going forward.”
Restrata’s IMC facility in Lord Cullen House, Fraser Place, Aberdeen, provides round-the-clock support to global companies in the event of an offshore emergency and is staffed by a large pool of specialist “responders” and client representatives.
